Live Lifestyle &
Nutrition: The Acid/Alkaline Balance in the Body
Acid / Alkaline Balance
© 2002 Michelle Butts
Adapted from an article by Ron Garner
This is the single most important concept you need to understand
and incorporate into your lifestyle. Without acid-alkaline
balance you cannot achieve true health! It is fundamental.
The human body was designed to function best in a slightly
alkaline state, and it has awesome innate intelligence to
be healthy. However, it depends on you to supply its requirements
of good food and positive attitudes. When its needs are
met, it always seeks balance, or homeostasis, and works
to produce health.
A BALANCED PH
A balanced pH keeps the body healthy. Your blood must
maintain a slightly alkaline pH at all times. If your body
becomes too acidic due to eating too much acid forming foods,
negative attitudes, and/or chemical pollution - your blood
will rob nutrients from your bones to maintain its pH balance.
Recommended Diet - 60% alkaline and 40% acid forming
foods to maintain a healthy balance; 80%
alkaline and 20% acid forming to restore a
healthy balance.
